2x James Beard Nominee Randy Forrester P’34 Heads NYA Dining
The school lunch line will be a little longer this year at North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) with two-time James Beard Award Nominee Randy Forrester P’34 working the kitchen. Chef Randy received the highly prestigious recognition for Best-Chef-Mid Atlantic in 2019 and Best New Restaurant, Osteria Radici, in Allentown, New Jersey in 2018. The Forresters moved to Maine in 2019 to live “the way life should be” and to open Radici in Portland.
Forrester knows the Academy well, as his daughter is a member of the Lower School. As NYA’s Director of Dining Services, Forrester continues to be hospitality driven. “As NYA changes to an independently run dining services program, our staff will continue to build on its strong relationships with each individual student in an effort to grow the program to fit the needs of this community,” said Forrester. “We aim to offer our community the sustenance they need to excel through their week while searching for opportunities to surprise tastebuds while encouraging new food experiences.”
Randy earned his B.S. in Hospitality Administration from Boston University after graduating from The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey. He has extensive experience in food service management and as a chef. Most recently, Randy served as the Community Kitchen Coordinator for the Mid-Coast Hunger Prevention Program.
North Yarmouth Academy is an independent, college preparatory, coeducational day and boarding school for over 400 toddlers to postgraduate students. NYA has fostered integrity, character, and intellect in its students since 1814. For more information about NYA, go to NYA.org.
