Courtney Dumont ’10
Courtney Dumont was a multi-sport standout in soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse, known for her athleticism, leadership, and clutch performances. On the ice, she left an indelible mark on NYA’s Girls Hockey Program. She was named an MGIHA All-Star as a freshman, a two-time NYA Girls Ice Hockey MVP, a NEPSAC Division II All-Star, and The Forecaster’s Winter Female Athlete of the Year during both her sophomore and junior seasons. As a senior, Dumont was honored as the NEPSAC Division II Prep Ice Hockey Player of the Year. She remains the program’s all-time leading scorer.
Her excellence extended to the soccer and lacrosse fields, where she earned MVP honors in both sports. Dumont was named The Forecaster’s Fall and Spring Athlete of the Year and was selected to the Western Maine Conference All-Star teams in both soccer and lacrosse. She also earned regional and state honors in soccer, and in lacrosse, was recognized as a First Team All-American and the Portland Press Herald MVP.
As a senior, Dumont received the Bob Hawkes Award, presented annually to the outstanding male and female athletes who best exemplify leadership, citizenship, and sportsmanship—hallmarks of Coach Bob Hawkes’s legacy.
She went on to play NCAA Division III ice hockey at Connecticut College, where she was named Rookie of the Year and earned All-Conference honors twice. Dumont graduated with a degree in history and philosophy and a minor in mathematics. Her commitment to both academics and athletics continues to bring distinction to NYA.

Tim Millett ’11
Tim Millett was a three-sport athlete at NYA, excelling in golf, ice hockey, and lacrosse. His most notable achievements came on the golf course, where he quickly rose to prominence as one of the state’s top high school golfers.
As a freshman, Millett earned the top spot on NYA’s Varsity Golf Team and went on to win back-to-back individual state championships in 2008 and 2009. His consistent play and competitive drive made him one of the most accomplished golfers in school history. As a junior, he posted a 10–2 regular-season record, ranked third in the Western Maine Conference for 9-hole scoring average (+1.57), and shot a 71 in the individual round of the state championship to secure the title.
Millett held a leadership role on the golf team throughout all four years, serving as captain during his junior and senior seasons. He was named to the 2009 All-Conference Team and recognized as The Forecaster’s NYA Fall Athlete of the Year.
In addition to his golf accomplishments, Millett was a key contributor to NYA’s ice hockey and lacrosse programs. He captained both teams during his senior year, demonstrating the same leadership, work ethic, and sportsmanship that defined his golf career.
Millett’s dedication to athletics and his outstanding character have left a lasting impact on NYA and continues to bring pride to the Academy.
With a generous gift, the late Edgar F. White ’38 and his family cemented his legacy at the Academy by creating the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010. The Edgar F. White ’38 Athletic Hall of Fame was permanently installed in NYA’s Travis Roy Arena and Fitness & Wellness Center in the fall of 2023 at the facility’s grand opening. The space celebrates the pride and distinction NYA athletes have brought to the Academy for over 200 years.
North Yarmouth Academy is an independent, college preparatory, coeducational day and boarding school for over 400 toddlers to postgraduate students. NYA has fostered integrity, character, and intellect in its students since 1814.
