Jessica Lahey, NYT Bestselling Author of The Gift of Failure, Coming to NYA October 8, 2024

Yarmouth, Maine, September 12, 2024: North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) is thrilled to announce best-selling author Jessica Lahey will come to campus on October 8, 2024. As part of her visit, she will give an evening presentation open to the public.

When:  Tuesday, October 8, 2024, 6:00 to 7:15 p.m.
What: This parent event will include a keynote address, question and answer session, and book signing.
Where: NYA gymnasium, 154 Main Street, Yarmouth, ME  04096.
Who: Open to all parents and educators.

Lahey is the author of The New York Times bestselling book The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed and The Addiction Inoculation: Raising Healthy Kids in a Culture of Dependence. Her central focus is on resiliency and self-efficacy in young people.

Lahey writes about education, parenting, and child welfare for The Washington PostThe Atlantic, and her biweekly column “The Parent Teacher Conference” ran for three years at The New York Times. She designed and wrote the educational curriculum for Amazon Kids’ award-winning animated series The Stinky and Dirty Show. She is a frequent guest on podcasts including Raising Good Humans and Armchair Expert. Her own podcast on writing is #AmWriting podcast. Lahey’s message is geared for parents of preschool children to launching adolescents.
