Matthew Poulin

This is Matthew Poulin’s second year at NYA. Prior to NYA, he was the assistant boys varsity ice hockey coach at Lewiston High School. For six of the past seven seasons, he aided in ushering the Blue Devils to three state championships. Matt also has collegiate coaching experience in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), leading the Central Maine Community College D2 Men’s Club Hockey program. Coach Poulin is certified a Level 4 USA Hockey Coach with the Boston Jr. Eagles U19 team and has previously coached various U16 & U19 Tier 2 Girls teams through the Casco Bay Mariners and Maine Gladiators. Matt also conducts private skills instruction for boys and girls ages 11-18.
Earl St.Hilaire
NYA Girls Assistant Coach
Coach St. Hilaire has an extensive background in the game of hockey, both as a player and as a coach. As a player he won two high school state championships for Lewiston High School, was invited to the USA Hockey National Team tryouts twice, played four years of Canadian junior hockey, and won a national championship in Ontario with the Belle River Canadians. In his 20 years of coaching experience, Coach St. Hilaire has won several state championships (including two high school state championships), earned a trip to the USA Hockey National tournament, and most recently is an Assistant Coach for the U19 Tier 2 Boston Jr. Eagles program.
Bill Galvin
NYA Boys & Girls Assistant Coach
Coach Galvin is a certified Level 5 USA Hockey Coach with over 15 years of coaching experience. Many of his former players have gone on to play at the NCAA level, from Division 3 through Division 1. After two seasons of serving as a visiting coach at NYA, Galvin brings a wide-ranging sports background to the hockey program. He recently retired from a 30-year career in the sports media business, most recently as Senior Vice President of Sports Programming for CNN International, where he covered everything from the Olympics to the Super Bowl to the Stanley Cup Finals. Galvin will continue to teach an online version of his Sports Journalism course for Georgia State University. He is also in the midst of co-authoring a book with Dr. Tiffany Jones on mental skills training for elite athletes.
