Contact The CoachesThe NYA Boys Hockey Team competes in the New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association (NEPSIHA), the premier Prep School league in the country. NYA is also a member of the Holt Hockey Conference and won the Holt Conference Championship in 2019 & 2020.
The program provides players with the opportunity to receive an excellent academic education as well an outstanding athletic experience. A typical season consists of 34 to 36 games, daily eighty-minute practices, full access to a strength and conditioning staff, and individual/team video sessions. NYA Boys Hockey alumni consist of Eric Weinrich (18 year NHL player), Mike McHugh (Hockey East Player of the Year), Eric Fenton (NCAA Champion), Matt Greason (current Head Coach at Trinity College), and Travis Roy (Boston University Class of 2000). Many other student athletes have matriculated to play in Hockey East, ECAC, Atlantic Hockey, NESCAC, NEHC, CCC, and Northeast 10 with many going on to careers in the professional ranks.

Coach Warde enters his fifth year of leading the NYA Boys Hockey program. The Panthers captured the Holt Prep Conference Championship in 2019 & 2020. A native of Rockport, Massachusetts, Coach Warde comes to NYA after 5 years as the Director of Hockey at Bridgton Academy and 9 years as a Division 1 College Hockey Assistant Coach at the United States Military Academy at West Point, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Iona College. He resides in Yarmouth, Maine with his wife Angela, Brayden a Senior at NYA, and Hudson a third grader at NYA. Prospective students-athletes may contact Coach Warde.
Terry Meagher
NYA Boys Assistant Coach
Coach Meagher was the Head Coach for the Bowdoin College Men’s Ice Hockey for 33 years. Meagher stepped off the Bowdoin Polar Bear’s bench in 2016. He ranks sixth all-time in NCAA Division III total victories with a 529-245-54 (.671) record. This includes two NESCAC and two ECAC Championship titles. He qualified the Polar Bears for the NESCAC Championship every year it existed while he was there. Prior to the conference, Meagher brought the team to eight ECAC Championship games. This is his fourth year working with the Panthers.
James Belleau
NYA Boys Assistant Coach
For thirteen years Coach Belleau was head coach for the Lewiston High School’s Boys Hockey team having coached them to Class A Hockey State Championships in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020. Prior to coaching at Lewiston, he served as an assistant coach at Edward Little for two years and as the head coach for three years. He led Edward Little to back to back Class A Hockey State Championships in 2003 and 2004. Coach Belleau was the head coach of several Lewiston Area Youth Hockey Teams including the Maine Gladiators. He was selected at the Class A Maine Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2004, 2010, 2015, 2018 and 2020. He served three years on the NFHS Ice Hockey Rules Committee. He is a Partner and owner at the law firm of Trafton, Matzen, Belleau & Frenette in Auburn, Maine
Bill Galvin
NYA Boys Assistant Coach
Coach Galvin is a certified Level 5 USA Hockey Coach with 20 years of experience, the past three with NYA. A longtime sports producer and executive, Coach Galvin is now a consultant for the NHL on TNT, weaving his access to former and current NHL stars into his approach to player development. He is also able to tap into his extensive work with Dr. Tiffany Jones, an elite mental skills coach with USA national and collegiate sports programs. Away from the ice, “Professor Galvin” is in his eighth year teaching a Sports Journalism course he designed for Georgia State University.
