Upper School Newsletter for January 24, 2021

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! With the start of this new calendar year, here we are, already three weeks into the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Despite having to temporarily transition to remote learning with the goal of prioritizing community safety, we are all excited to get back to campus this week to resume in-person learning. I continue to be impressed with the collective efforts of students, faculty, staff, and parents to make this school year productive and engaging, amidst and despite the consistent adversity that the pandemic has thrust upon us. Congratulations to our winter teams and activities for their creativity so far during this unique start to the season. In spite of the additional challenges everyone is faced with, I look forward to all of the ongoing successes of our students this winter.

Eric Austin
Head of Upper School

ALL-STATE MUSICAL FESTIVAL CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the students who were recently accepted into the Maine All-State Music Festival! These students submitted video auditions to be scored and ranked against high school musicians from all over Maine. They will participate in their All-State ensembles (which will be held virtually) this May. NYA’s accepted students are:

BAND: Hans-Erik Jerosch, horn and Topher Prokopius, tuba

ORCHESTRA: Emily Greene, violin and Madeleine Vaillancourt, cello

FOR PARENTS OF SENIORS, CLASS OF ’21

We are asking for help with fundraising for celebrating the Class of 2021 with Project Graduation in June. This one is super simple: if your student has not already brought home CLYNK bottle and can bags, please have them pick some up in the Upper School office when we are back in session. Throw all of your beverage bottles and cans into the CLYNK bag, take it to Hannaford Yarmouth, and deposit the bag in the large receptacle to the right of the store as you enter the parking lot. The contents are a donation to the senior class with funds deposited to the NYA account quarterly.Clynk Graphic

The bags are already labeled for NYA donation, so nothing else is required of you. The funds add up very quickly and help sponsor this fun and important event. All classes are invited to participate, and all donations are appreciated. Funds not used for the current graduating class are passed down to the next class.

Thank you for your support!
