September 24, 2021
Dear Students, Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We want to make you aware of a recent change to Maine State Guidance. The Maine Department of Education (DOE) Standard Operating Procedures set the guidelines for schools on quarantining. The guidance surrounding quarantining for unvaccinated students who are participating in pooled testing was revised on September 13, 2021.
The new guidelines stipulate that if the close contact happens outside of school, an unvaccinated student will need to quarantine from all school classes and activities, as well as all community activities, for a period of 10 days.
It remains that a student participating in pooled testing who is deemed a close contact at any school event (class, after school activity, field trip, athletic event, etc.) will not need to quarantine from school events, athletics, or activities, but will still need to quarantine from community activities for a period of 10 days.
It is essential that families notify the school whenever a student is identified as a close contact, regardless of vaccination status. For information on how close contacts are determined at activities outside of school, families should contact those organizations directly.
Please remember to conduct a pre-screening each day before coming to school using this updated pre-screening tool.
