NYA Middle School Students Can “Learn to Lift”

Yarmouth, Maine, February 5, 2024: Starting February 9, North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) Middle School students can take their fitness to the next level with NYA Fitness & Wellness Coach Ben Stefanini. All students in grades six through eight are invited to “Learn-to-Lift” every Friday afternoon after school from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in NYA’s new Fitness & Wellness Center. Coach Ben will teach proper techniques for lifting weights and use of all other equipment in the facility. “This idea was developed to provide students with another option with their free time on Friday afternoons,” explains Stefanini. “The Middle School Learn-to-Lift program will give students an opportunity to get a head start on their fitness development. I will teach them proper techniques and concepts to help them lead a long-term healthy and active lifestyle. Work in the fitness center will also benefit the students in current and future participation in athletics here at NYA and beyond.

Most Upper School and Middle School athletic teams have worked fitness center time into their practice schedules. Athlete or not, Learn-to-Lift aims to cater to the individual based on their personal goals.
