January 3, 2021

Dear Families,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2021! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We are looking forward to seeing everyone back on campus this week.

For those who traveled during break, please remember if you visited a non-exempt state (currently only VT and NH are exempt), you must wait five days after you arrive back in Maine to take a COVID-19 PCR test. Please send test results to Ashley Moody. Turnaround time may take two to four days, equaling seven to nine days after you return to Maine. Families also have the option to quarantine for 14 days upon returning to Maine. Please contact Eric Austin or Marissa Markonish if your child will need to temporarily shift to remote learning due to holiday travel. For questions regarding testing or quarantining, please contact Ashley Moody.

We will continue to follow Maine state guidance for athletic and extracurricular activities. Here is a link to a letter from Kelsy Ross regarding activities post-Winter Break. (This letter will also be sent to Middle and Upper School families in a separate email.) Ms. Ross, coaches, and directors will be in touch with details and updates specific to each activity as the information becomes available.

The 2021-2022 admission season is underway. The NYA Admission Office is hosting a series of Lower, Middle, and Upper School virtual events this winter and spring for prospective families. The first event in the “Panther Chat” Series, designed for prospective families/students in grades 5-12, will be held on Wednesday, January 6. The “Panther Chat” series allows interested parents to meet administrators and faculty virtually and have the opportunity to ask questions about a particular part of the program. The January 6 “chat” will focus on the arts at NYA. Our current families are the school’s best admission ambassadors, so please share the link with your friends and neighbors and encourage them to learn more about NYA.

Registration for NYA’s summer camps (ages 2 to 15) is now OPEN. Be sure to register early – to receive the early bird pricing, and to make sure you secure the camps you want before they fill up. The Panther Cub program and the NEW NYA Ice Hockey Camp are sure to fill up quickly. Here’s a quick glance schedule of our camp offerings. Please contact Mary Goodrich, NYA Summer Programs Director, with any questions.

In case you missed it, we posted a series of musical performances on social media over the break. Visit the North Yarmouth Academy Facebook page to see these great videos.

We are looking forward to second semester and to 2021. As a welcome back for the students, Monday January 4 will be a “Code Orange.” No charge for this Dress Down Day, just a celebration of the new year!  See you soon.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Ben Jackson
Head of School
