NYA to Honor Travis Roy

North Yarmouth Academy (NYA), in partnership with the prep hockey community and Travis Roy Foundation (TRF), will honor Travis Roy with events befitting his life and work.

  • The Maine Prep Cup annual hockey tournament, featuring NYA, Berwick Academy, Bridgton Academy, Hebron Academy, and Kents Hill School, has officially been renamed the Travis Roy Cup. 2021 Tournament dates are TBD due to Covid.
  • Roy’s alma maters, NYA and Tabor Academy, have agreed to annual charitable match-ups between the girls and boys hockey programs to benefit TRF. Date of this season’s game is TBD due to Covid.
  • NYA boys and girls ice hockey players are wearing “TR 00” helmet emblems for the 2020-21 season.

“The impact Travis had in and beyond the hockey community doesn’t end with his passing,” said NYA Athletic Director, Kelsy Ross. “We feel that the torch has been passed on to us now. These events will serve as a platform to carry on the message he worked so diligently to share. We are humbled to be a part of his legacy.”
