April 8, 2021
Dear Upper School Families,
I am writing to let you know of a recent change to DOE/CDC guidelines regarding close contacts that we were just made aware of today. This provision allows for a more narrow definition of close contacts in schools than previously permitted. A positive case will no longer impact all students in a given classroom. It more closely follows the general definition for close contacts in non-school settings.
We have already notified students that we have been able to remove from the current quarantine list. If your child is in quarantine and did not receive notification from the school, your child’s status remains unchanged and they must continue to quarantine and attend school remotely through Friday, April 16. Unfortunately, a positive case in school will still impact a significant number of individuals, though far fewer than under the previous protocol. We will continue to do everything we can to support students who are accessing class remotely. We very much look forward to their return to school.
We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate the continually changing guidance. We will continue to make every effort to keep our community safe and mitigate risks associated with COVID 19.
