Dear Students and Families,
I want to take this opportunity to briefly update everyone on recent COVID activity on campus. While we continue to see positive cases within our community, cases have remained fairly stable and contained over the last few weeks. For your information, here are two spreadsheets showing recent COVID activity in our community:
The current trends are a good sign. While we have had limited spread recently at NYA, there are increasing positive cases around the country and in the state of Maine. We need to continue to take precautions to limit the spread in our community. This includes staying home when sick (there is significant non-COVID illness occurring recently as well), regularly hand washing, and making good decisions as it relates to the spread of COVID-19. The use of masks is optional in all campus buildings but highly recommended if you have recently been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID. We continue to recommend that eligible individuals get vaccinated and boosted as the best way to slow the spread of the virus. For updated information on NYA’s efforts to mitigate COVID you may visit our COVID-19 page.
Pooled testing has also been a useful tool throughout the year. Governor Mills recently announced that the state of Maine will suspend pooled testing as of May 12. We will continue our pooled testing until that date.
Again, thank you for all of your continued support and flexibility throughout the year. It truly has been a team effort for our community. I look forward to a successful spring term.
Sincerely,
Ben Jackson
Head of School
