December 17, 2021
Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
I am writing to let you know that an NYA Upper School student tested positive for COVID-19 on December 16, confirmed by pooled testing results on December 17, and an NYA Middle School student tested positive for COVID-19 on December 17.
We are currently completing the contact tracing process in accordance with the CDC guidelines and are contacting families whose child has been deemed a close contact. Fortunately, in this case the number of close contacts was limited. If you do not receive an email, then your child was not deemed a close contact, and no further action is needed. As always, please monitor for any potential symptoms and keep students at home if they are feeling ill.
In order to protect the health and safety of the school community and avoid the need for prolonged quarantines, we recommend that eligible individuals get vaccinated to protect against COVID-19 and that students participate in pooled testing. Pooled testing is available for students in K-PG.
For questions about any symptoms, contact your health care provider. For general COVID-19 questions, dial 211 (or 1-866-811-5695). You can also text your zip code to 898-211 or email info@211maine.org. More information can be found on the Maine CDC website and the CDC website. For any additional questions, please contact Ashley Moody, NYA’s Health Services Coordinator.
We will continue to share information on positive cases in our school community and complete contact tracing as required by the Maine CDC and DOE.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Ben Jackson
Head of School
