Yarmouth, Maine, August 2, 2023: North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) and the defending Class D State Champion NYA Varsity Boys Soccer Team are happy to welcome new head coach Lawrence Burningham to the sideline. Coach Burningham comes to the Academy from the assistant coaching ranks at Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Men’s Soccer program. He split that time heading the U19 Girls Velocity FC team out of Biddeford, Maine. The high school soccer scene is familiar ground to Coach Burningham who helmed the Biddeford boys varsity program from 2014 – 2019.
“I am excited to be a member of the NYA coaching staff and look forward to the challenge of taking this already distinguished boys soccer program to the next level of play in Maine soccer,” said Burningham.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Burningham to our NYA family,” said NYA Athletic Director Kelsy Ross. “He stood out in the candidate pool in part because of his extensive and diverse coaching experiences and desire to impact our student-athletes both on and off the field. I am confident that he will hit the ground running and strengthen the NYA boys soccer program in a variety of ways.”
