Prospective Student Visit Days

Prospective student visit days are offered on select days beginning in November, leading up to the February 1 priority application deadline. After February 1, visit days are offered as the schedule allows. Visitors will be matched with a student host for the day. If there is a particular interest or favorite class, we’ll try our best to include those in the visit day. The visit day offers prospective students a chance to experience life at NYA, as well as fulfills the interview requirement.

Lower School Visit Days

Toddler Program (ages 18 months through 3 years)
Due to their young age, there is no student interview or visit for students applying to the Toddler Program. Parents, however, are able to schedule a classroom observation.

Primary Program (ages 3 to 5)
Kindergarten Program (ages 5 to 6):
Prospective students will come for an interview with their parent or guardian at the end of the NYA school day. A Lower School teacher will visit with the prospective student and show them some of the classroom materials. This is also a chance for the parent or guardian to meet with an Admission team member and ask additional questions. Visits begin at 3:15 p.m. and wrap up around 3:45 p.m.

Grades 1 and 2:
Prospective students will spend the morning in a Lower School classroom with our current students. Visitors should bring a lunch, morning snack and water bottle. Visit days begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Lower School and end at 11:45 a.m.

Grades 3 and 4:
Prospective students will spend the day in a Lower School classroom with our current students. Visitors should bring a lunch, morning snack and water bottle. Visit days begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Lower School and end at 2:00 p.m.

Middle School Visit Days

Grades 5-8:
Prospective students will spend the day with a Middle School host. Below is an overview of the visit:

8:45 a.m: Arrive at the Admission Office (Dole House). Parents are welcomed to use the time to talk with the Admission team.

8:50 a.m.-1:30 p.m: Prospective student visits the Middle School for classes, break and lunch.

*1:30 p.m: Parents return to the Admission Office for pick up.
*Admission interview and testing may be completed after the visit day, extending pick up to 2:45 p.m.

Upper School Visit Days

Grades 9-12 and PG:
Prospective students will spend the day with an Upper School host. Below is an overview of the visit:

8:45 a.m: Arrive at the Admission Office (Dole House). Parents are welcomed to use the time to talk with the Admission team.

8:50 a.m.-1:40 p.m: Prospective student visits the Upper School for classes, break and lunch.

*1:45 p.m: Parents return to the Admission Office for pick up.
*Admission interview and testing may be completed after the visit day, extending pick up to 3:00 p.m.

The Admission Office is located in Dole House at 128 Main Street in Yarmouth on the NYA Campus. The main telephone number for the Admission Office is 207.846.2376. During the school year, office hours are Monday-Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is a reduced schedule during school breaks.
