Hockey Academy
Mission Statement
NYA Hockey Academy believes in educating young players about the game of hockey, paying great attention to individual skill development, team play and sportsmanship. Our goal is to deepen your respect for the game, while ensuring you have FUN doing it! Our program focuses on reinforcing and enhancing power skating techniques, stick handling, shooting and hockey fundamentals.
Co-Directors
Kent Hulst:
Coach Hulst played pro hockey for 12 years, 7.5 of them with the Portland Pirates, where he was Captain for 5 years and inducted into their Hall of Fame. He is the Director of NYA Hockey Programs, and the NYA Varsity Boys Hockey Coach (NEPSIHA Div II). He holds a USA Hockey level 3 coaching certificate.
Graeme Townshend:
Retired as a pro player, Coach Townshend is the Player Development Coordinator and a scout for the NHL's San Jose Sharks. His primary focus is to teach skating skills. Every player in the Sharks' organization is trained under his watchful eye, including MVP Joe Thornton and leading goal scorer Jonathan Cheechoo.
Guest Coach:
Eric Weinrich began his NHL career in New Jersey before making stops in Hartford, Chicago, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Vancouver. He currently coaches and plays defense for the Portland Pirates. He is a 1985 alumnus of North Yarmouth Academy.

Session I: Squirts & Mites SESSION IS FULL!!!!!!!!!
August 04 - August 08, 8:00am-4:00pm,
4 hours ice time daily, $335.00
This program is for players with some hockey experience. All fundamentals of skating, stick handling, passing, shooting and game situations will be covered. Game day Friday.
Session II: PeeWees & Bantams
August 11 - August 15, 8:00am-4:00pm
5 hours ice time daily, $380.00
This camp is for the serious player. All fundamentals of checking, skating, stick handling, passing, shooting and game situations will be covered. Game day Friday. Space is strictly limited!
