NYA Parents' Association
Purpose and Structure
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Association is to act in a supportive capacity to strengthen the school and its programs and to promote school spirit and a sense of community through active volunteer participation. The Trustees, Headmaster, Faculty and Staff of NYA recognize the importance of a strong Parents' Association and regard this organization with respect. The involvement of NYA parents, and the human resources that accompany their participation, insures a high quality of student life and support needed to carry out programs and activities that meet the goals of the school. The Parents' Association is a volunteer group subject to the oversight and control of the Board of Trustees of North Yarmouth Academy.

Parents’ Association Structure
All parents of students enrolled at NYA are automatically members of the Parents’ Association. Each member is entitled to one vote on any matter submitted to a vote by members.
Parents' Association support can be delineated into three service areas: Communication/Information Services, Financial Services, and Volunteer Services. These service areas shall work cooperatively in support of the school and its goals.
NYA volunteers are past or present parents of NYA students and/or community members who volunteer their time and resources at the request of NYA personnel to help further the educational goals of NYA. NYA volunteers shall supplement, not substitute for NYA personnel, in furtherance of the goals of the school.
The Executive Committee of the Association consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Upper School and Middle School Volunteer Coordinator and Special Events Coordinator. The Executive Committee shall conduct the business of the Association and facilitate communication between the Association and the NYA Administration. They are elected as a slate of officers in the spring of the year.
The Parents' Association holds two annual meetings as noted on the back of this brochure. The members adopt the budget at the fall meeting and elect the Executive Committee in the spring. The Association also sponsors The Headmaster Roundtable Discussions, forums and events of general interest to the NYA community.
