Leadership & Life Skills Camps

Leadership camps are designed to begin giving campers more of a sense of responsibility, self-confidence and a chance to practice their leadership skills. All programs are based on NYA’s beautiful campus and are instructed by staff with expertise in the specialty or by one of our partner organizations.

Full Day sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the options of FREE Before Care from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and FREE After Care from 3:00-5:30 p.m.

Half Day sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the option of FREE Before Care from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Campers should come each day with a lunch, two snacks, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Because we are so active each day, please be sure campers dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather (see Family Handbook for detailed packing list).

Before & After Care is a well-supervised and loosely structured time outside of the normal camp program time. With a camp session registration, this is offered FREE of charge as a courtesy to our campers and their families. Before Care runs from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and After Care runs from 3:00-5:30 p.m.

If your camper loves to be around younger children and has shown an interest in babysitting, this is the perfect camp! It’s designed for campers who are craving more responsibility and are ready to begin the transition from camper to camp staff member. Campers will participate in a curriculum designed by the national program Safe Sitter and will end the week with a certificate in safe babysitting. The camp includes training in skills like: safety, childcare, first aid and rescue, and life and business. There will also be plenty of time to interact with and practice skills as the CITs work with the campers in the Super Summer Day Camp (SSDC) group. This will be a fun session for campers to build their skills and work toward a future caring for children! Session also includes a trip to Maine Wildlife Park in Gray with the SSDC group.
