North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) now offers a post graduate program open to local high school graduates who would benefit from an additional year of study before college. The NYA post graduate program will give students the opportunity to mature academically in a structured, supportive environment. A year at NYA will provide an added foundation necessary for a successful transition to college.
Students entering the program will have access to several different paths of study, focusing on a specific discipline. Areas of study may include a humanities path, a math and science path, or a fine arts path. Students will design their courses, set goals, and select activities with a faculty advisor who will play an integral role in the student’s experience and success. Students will have access to NYA’s one-on-one college counseling program which will provide them with a personalized plan for college admission success. A wealth of extra-curricular opportunities will also be available to the students including theater, athletics, competitive prep ice hockey, and community service.
“This is a unique opportunity for a high school senior who would like to strengthen their profile for college and sharpen their skills for success once they matriculate to college,” said Eric Austin, Head of NYA’s Upper School. “NYA has offered a PG year in the past, but this is a much different, much more comprehensive and supported program for these gap year students,” added Austin.
