Acceptable Use Policy and
Rules Governing Internet Use
The following is based on the Policy Regarding Computer and Internet Use and the Rules Governing Computer and Internet Use as adopted by the North Yarmouth Academy Board of Trustees.
Acceptable Use
The North Yarmouth Academy website, as part of the school's information technology, is intended to support the educational mission of the school and to enhance the curriculum and learning opportunities for students and school staff, alumni, and the community-at-large. All content posted must be consistent with the academy's educational mission, curriculum and instructional goals.
All North Yarmouth Academy web pages remain under the control, custody and supervision of the academy. NYA reserves the right to monitor and control all page content. All pages must comply with the school's acceptable use policy and all other applicable policies, procedures, and rules.
Unacceptable Use
Unacceptable uses which are expressly prohibited include but are not limited to the following:
Any use for private financial gain, or commercial advertising or solicitation purposes;
Any use as a forum for communicating with school users or outside parties to solicit, proselytize, advocate or communicate the views of an individual or non-school-sponsored organization; to solicit membership in or support of any non-school-sponsored organization; or to raise funds for any non-school- sponsored purpose, whether for profit or not-for-profit;
Any communication that represents personal views as those of the school or that could be misinterpreted as such;
Any communications which are inappropriate for students or minors;
Any communications of obscene, inappropriately explicit or suggestive content;
Any communications of illegal content or content in violation of other school policies, including discriminatory or threatening communications, violations of copyright laws, etc.;
Any communications that are in violation of generally accepted rules of network etiquette and/or appropriate conduct.
