December 19, 2007, Yarmouth, Maine: The North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) Studio Band will play an all-ages show at the North Star Music Café (225 Congress Street, Portland) on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 starting at 7:00 p.m. Cover charge, TBA.
NYA's Studio Band is a contemporary music ensemble made up of high school students who play a wide range of music, including rock, soul, funk, jazz, klezmer and R&B. The Studio Band plays at a wide variety of venues, including schools, cafes, sporting events, and independently organized shows. They will be playing primarily acoustic-oriented music at the North Star Music Café, including many original songs and covers of artists like Joss Stone, Radiohead, The Fine Young Cannibals, and Joni Mitchell.
The Studio Band members include:
Seniors: Caroline Kessler (North Yarmouth), Jenna Lane (Durham), Rob Newman (Portland), PD Wappler (South Freeport);
Juniors: Chris Edwards (Falmouth), Miles Isacke (Yarmouth), Charlotte Michaud (Brunswick);
Sophomores: Ethan Allred (South Freeport), John Finegan (Cumberland Ctr.), Eli Gilbert (North Yarmouth), Turner Kelsey (Cumberland), Ben Morse (Yarmouth), Ian Steinbach (Yarmouth), Patrick Wappler (South Freeport);
Freshmen: Owen Howes (Brunswick), Alden Kelsey (Cumberland), Weston Masi (Raymond), Robert Miller (Portland), and Jerry Murray (South Freeport).
The North Star Music Café is the preeminent acoustic music café located in Portland and an ideal place for young musicians to play. It is also a great coffee shop and restaurant. Food and drink will be available at the performance.
