May 7, 2008, Yarmouth, Maine: Mary Beth Feldman, Chair of the English Department at North Yarmouth Academy (NYA), has been selected to serve as a Reader at the scoring of the Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature examination. AP Readers score the exam's three essay questions. This will be the sixth year that Feldman has received an appointment to read the AP English Literature exam. Over 9,500 college faculty and high school teachers from around the world will gather in Louisville, Kentucky this June for the annual AP reading.
Founded in 1955, the Advanced Placement Program has allowed millions of high school students to take college-level courses and exams and to earn college credit or placement. AP readers evaluate and score the essay sections of the AP Exams ensuring that students receive grades that accurately reflect college-level achievement. NYA offers fourteen AP courses.
