Yarmouth, Maine, April 3, 2008: North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) is holding its 21st annual charity auction on Saturday, April 26 at Travis Roy Arena, 497 US Route 1, Yarmouth. Proceeds from the auction benefit the NYA Financial Aid Fund and Enrichment Programs. The auction committee, comprised of NYA parent volunteers, hopes to surpass $100,000 at this event. This year’s theme is "Groovy Sixties," and guests are encouraged to wear sixties-inspired clothing.
There will be over 400 silent auction items ranging from a half-day guided fishing trip, golf clubs, and an Akari spa day to jewelry, pottery and personal training sessions. Bidding online is available now, visit www.nya.org and click on the Volkswagen Beetle to view items. There will also be a raffle for a $10,000 cash prize (raffle tickets on sale at the auction or in advance – call 846-2380 for more information). The winner does not have to be in attendance.
The highlight of the evening will be the live auction, with auctioneer John Locke. A sample of items up for bid include:
- New England Patriots Package: 2 premium seating tickets with parking pass, and a mini-helmet autographed by Tom Brady, Special Edition Super Bowl XLII pins, t-shirt, hat and game program
- Lobstering and picnic for 6 with Linda Greenlaw
- Box Seats for Red Sox games
- Newport Beach, CA vacation house
- University of Maine hockey box seats
Tickets for the auction are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and include dinner, entertainment by NYA band 'The Beatles,' and a cash bar. Advance tickets are suggested. The silent auction and dinner are from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, and the live auction is from 8:00 – 9:30 pm. Corporate sponsorships are still available at various levels.
